Marriott sought to elevate its annual Top Performers program by creating an experience that authentically celebrated its destination while meaningfully recognizing its achievers. The goal was to go beyond a traditional incentive trip by crafting a program that reflected the essence of Maui and honored Hawaiian culture with genuine respect and depth.
Hosted at the Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua, the program was designed to connect participants with the spirit of the islands through immersive storytelling and cultural authenticity. At its heart was a curated marketplace that showcased local artisans, their stories, and handcrafted products. Every element–from the design aesthetic to the selection of merchandise–embodied the beauty, tradition, and spirit of Hawaii and connected to the theme of “Journey of Legends”.
The result was an elegant, place-based experience that strengthened Marriott’s legacy of meaningful recognition and deepened its connection to community and culture.
Guests were given bespoke coins to spend within the market, creating a direct connection between attendees and the people whose craft keeps Maui’s spirit alive. They were also gifted personalized welcome packets, island-themed name badges, a carefully crafted 100-page welcome book, travel tees and more.
